Vocational diploma or short-course certificate in a related field. Practical knowledge of carpet installation techniques and floor covering materials. Experience using professional carpet-laying tools and equipment. Ability to measure work areas, calculate material requirements, and prepare installation specifications. Ability to remove old flooring and install new carpets in residential and commercial settings. Must be able to speak and understand English. Good attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to follow technical instructions and workplace safety requirements. Responsibilities: Remove and install carpets in homes, offices, commercial establishments, and public buildings. Lay floor coverings in offices, airports, restaurants, residential properties, and other commercial facilities. Measure rooms and work areas accurately and prepare specifications for carpet installation. Inspect and prepare floor surfaces before installing carpets and other floor coverings. Remove, collect, and dispose of old carpets and flooring materials appropriately. Use carpet installation tools, including carpet shears, knee kickers, wall trimmers, loop pile cutters, heat irons, and power stretchers. Cut, fit, stretch, and secure carpets to achieve a neat and professional finish. Install carpet on walls and ceilings when required by the project specifications. Present carpet samples and assist with material selection when necessary. Check completed installations to ensure proper fitting, alignment, and quality. Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition and follow workplace safety procedures.
