Common Job Roles and Responsibilities:
- Safely navigate and operate commercial trucks across local, regional, or long-distance routes.
- Perform thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections to identify mechanical issues and ensure safe operation.
- Oversee the secure loading, balancing, and unloading of cargo to prevent damage or shifting during transit.
- Maintain accurate electronic or manual logs documenting driving hours, rest intervals, mileage, and fuel purchases.
- Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local transportation laws, speed limits, and Department of Transportation (DOT) safety regulations.
- Report traffic incidents, mechanical breakdowns, or delivery delays to dispatch personnel in a timely manner.
- Coordinate closely with logistics coordinators, warehouse staff, and clients to meet designated delivery windows.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance, such as checking fluids, tire pressure, and lights.
