Job Description
The Department is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Election Materials Proofreader, specifically targeting individuals with bilingual English and Spanish language skills. Selected candidates will join one of four dedicated language-based teams, which include English, Chinese, Filipino, and Spanish. To qualify for this opportunity, applicants must possess professional experience in translating and proofreading documents within their designated target language.
Common Job Responsibilities:
- Reviewing and proofreading election-related documents, including ballots, voter information pamphlets, and official correspondence, to ensure absolute grammatical and formatting accuracy in both English and Spanish.
- Translating complex municipal and state election materials from English to Spanish while maintaining the original legal intent and tone.
- Cross-referencing English source materials with Spanish translations to ensure linguistic consistency, cultural appropriateness, and adherence to standardized terminology.
- Collaborating with election coordinators and language specialists to resolve translation discrepancies and meet strict production and mailing deadlines.
- Verifying that all bilingual election materials comply with local, state, and federal voting rights laws and accessibility guidelines.
