Job Description
The Culinary Arts Department is establishing an ongoing pool of qualified part-time faculty. Given the diverse demographic makeup of the student body, which includes a significant percentage of Asian and Filipino students, the ideal candidate must demonstrate exceptional cultural competency. Candidates must be highly skilled in supporting and teaching students from varied academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, and ethnic backgrounds.
Common responsibilities of this role include:
- Delivering high-quality classroom and laboratory instruction in culinary arts, food safety, sanitation, and kitchen management.
- Developing and updating course syllabi, lesson plans, and instructional materials to align with industry standards.
- Assessing and grading student performance, culinary techniques, exams, and practical projects.
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized kitchen environment compliant with health department regulations.
- Providing academic support, advisement, and mentorship to a diverse student population during designated hours.
