Position Summary
Renaissance Economic Development Corporation (REDC), a nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Business Advisor Support Intern fluent in Filipino, Thai, or Vietnamese. This internship offers valuable, hands-on experience in community economic development, microfinance, and small business consulting. The intern will work directly with professional Business Advisors to support minority- and immigrant-owned small businesses in accessing capital, training, and technical assistance.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Business Advisors in providing one-on-one technical assistance, consulting, and business development services to entrepreneurs.
- Provide bilingual translation and interpretation support in Filipino, Thai, or Vietnamese to facilitate seamless communication with limited-English-proficient clients.
- Help clients compile necessary financial documentation, draft business plans, and prepare loan applications.
- Conduct community outreach and engagement within immigrant and minority business corridors to promote REDC loan products and services.
- Perform market research, collect client data, and maintain accurate records within the organizational database.
- Assist in organizing and coordinating educational workshops, webinars, and community networking events for small business owners.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Fluency in English and at least one of the specified languages: Filipino, Thai, or Vietnamese (both verbal and written).
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and general administrative tasks.
- A strong interest in economic development, finance, business administration, or community advocacy.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations in a professional environment.
